Evelyn Avery entered eternal rest on January 28, 2026, at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Temple, Texas. She went home to be with the Lord, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and cherished memories.

Evelyn Avery wife of Tierrance Avery, ex-wife of Jimmie Lee Smith, Sr (deceased), Louis Lufiauluisu Domingos, and Frank Britton. The mother of Joyce, Angela, Jimmie, David and Terrance (deceased), Aunt/Mother to Nate, Kim and Anthony Holloway, Grandmother to Jovannah, Faheem, Gabriel (Hasib), Zakiyyah, Jasmin, Isaiah, Talib-din, Nafees, Khaleel, and Aaron. Daughter of Harry Shuler and Ann Garrett, Sister to Ella (deceased), Kim, Marsha (deceased), Shirley (deceased), Mark and Reginald. Was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and she was a God fearing, good natured concerned human being. She was educated at Elverson Elementary, John Wanamake Jr. High, and Kensington High in Philadelphia. Later she moved to NYC where she was further educated at Borough of Manhattan Community College and Pace University but did not complete a degree.

Evelyn Avery was a beacon of warmth, charisma, and generosity, whose presence enriched the lives of all who knew her. Her love of family, dancing and fun was infectious. Born with a natural gift for connecting with people, Evelyn’s laughter and radiant spirit brought joy to every gathering. Her compassion was boundless; she offered wise advice, shared what she had, and gave freely, whether it was material items, money, or simply her time and knowledge.

Evelyn’s journey began as a teenage mother, a role she embraced with courage and unwavering love. She fiercely nurtured her five children, raising them with gentle strength and steadfast Encouragement. Her devotion extended beyond her immediate family, as she lovingly raised her niece and two nephews along with her sister Ella after their mother’s death. Her determination and resilience led her to remarkable achievements. Evelyn rose to become an executive assistant to a vice president at a major bank, a testament to her intelligence and professionalism. Later in life, she fulfilled a lifelong dream by earning her bachelor’s degree as a senior citizen, proving that learning and growth have no age limit.

Evelyn found joy in movement and water. She loved to swim, embracing the freedom and peace it brought her. Dancing was her celebration of life—whether at family gatherings, church or simply in the living room, she moved with a spirit that was infectious and uplifting.

Her legacy is one of compassion, strength, and inspiration. Evelyn taught those around her to care deeply, strive for excellence, and never stop believing in themselves or each other. Her nurturing spirit and unwavering love will forever guide her family and friends, reminding them

Evelyn leaves behind a loving family, including her children, her cherished nieces and nephews,

grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends. Her memory will live on
